Internship and a path of career booster

Vocational college is one education that the systems are setting out 40% theory and 60% practice. The systems that setting out make the students get more education skill that require in professional work. Development of economic and the building of the country that are going briskly needed a professional worker who has ready to work in their field. Now days, the experience obtained in all of industries and companies, and by internship many employers are hiring and training students interns with the hope of developing their workforce. In addition, in a vocational college students are able to do internship as their practice in real work. This internship not only as practical for students, but also it can make the internship to be path of their career.

According to Oxford Advanced Genie Internship is a period of time that the students spend working in a company as a form of training. And according to Webmaster’s Dictionary Internship is an advanced student or graduate in medicine gaining supervised practical experience. So, the definition of internship is a person who has opportunity to work in companies to train them before they enter in a real work.

Internship and career has been influenced for students in a future, Despites fact that not all of student concedes that internship influenced on their career. But, at least in their internship they can find their passion. Because of process determining of the companies are the first thing that impact on the students in their interest or passion. It doesn’t easy to determine what the students interest since there are a lot of companies that offer something appeal, and usually students do not know yet what their passion are. But, it can be decreased, and according to Journal The value of internships and co-op opportunities for college students the key success of internship are  preparation of documents and establish a relationship with a career counselor and visit a career development office to list of prospective companies and internship opportunities. (Cates-McIver - Linedda, 3). Consequently, by well preparations and coordination with the counselor might help the students to find their passion or interest.

In addition, passion in internship program can be booster at the career that the students want to be. For instance, a student is tends to work in a business field and he/she wants to be an administrator or to be a secretary. So, if the student finds an internship as what he/she like, he/she is able to get a lot of opportunities to learn more and he/she could find their love or passion. Because, if the students do not internship as what they interest, it might the students do not work well or they will feel just let it flow. So, it is important that determining of passion or interest in internship might be a career path in a future since it trains the students before they work in real job and make them to be more confident in their field who they loved.

Other thing, because of a process of learning in internship; it also make a booster in a path of career in the future. The process of learning in internship actually is different with the school method or sometimes it different with the theory that they had. “Only few respondents mentioned directly that the internship increased their knowledge of how to implement a career choice, but many other simplied that they were helped in making contacts and acquiring general knowledge.” (Jerry Neapolitan, 227).

The process of learning is influence them in a path of career since they could gain more new knowledge. Not only knowledge about the how they should practice with their theory but it also challenge them to team work and sometimes work on under pressure, deadline and find many obstacles. For example, when the students choose to internship at advertising or media, they should be ready with the kind of deadline on writing or how to deal with the costumer in advertising activities.

The process of learning for their career are train them too in a soft skill. Behaviors of the students are also to be assessment. The students’ knowledge in internship is entail but behavior is more important. Because knowledge can be learnt, yet the behavior does not easy as a pie to alter. For instance, a student who does not really good at his/her knowledge but he/she could be able to adapt with other colleagues, and he/she has a good attitude.

On the other hand, process of learning in internship also gains them to have a good communication skill especially work in service area. Working with different environment and kind of people who have different characters might make students do not feel well off and being less confident. Thus, it is very important how to build good communication with other employee to make more convertible with the situation in a company. It can be more communicate or more participated in every task with other employee; however, for the first time they sometimes feel so shy and afraid to build the communication with the colleagues in their companies.

Obviously Students have a lot opportunity at internship program that they choose and will help them in the career future. Moreover, the thing that makes internship to be career booster for the students is connection. Building a good relation with the employee and other colleague partnership of company make students more open minded and make them build self-branding. For instance, the students not only work in an office area but they sometimes should join with the employee to work in outdoor area or they should meet other partnership. It is very useful for students to build good relation since they could build relation with a lot of people and companies.

Furthermore, by doing good relation with the company make students build a new link that perhaps it very useful for them in a future. Because sometimes if the students lucky, the company will hire them.

In brief, internship is a good program that will be challenge especially for students. The process to find passion, process of learning and build a good connection might be a path of career booster in a future. By a good preparation and optimistic, internship will help us in a future.
